Herbed Fingers

Grilled bread canapes with a cheese topping

Type: Snacks Serving: 20-24 pieces Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • Bread, masala or herbed of your choice 1, 12 roll, cut into thick slices
  • (shaped like a French loaf)
  • Butter, softened, to spread over the slices cup, approx.
  • Paneer, diced small 1 cup
  • Ajwain tsp
  • Tomato, de-seeded and chopped 1 cup
  • Chilli powder tsp
  • Basil leaves, dried tsp
  • Olive oil 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • A pre-heated griller (with elements on both sides)
  • Some greens to garnish
 

Preparation

  • Butter the bread pieces on one side. Mix the paneer, ajwain, 1 tbsp olive oil and some salt together.
  • Mix the tomato, chilli powder, basil, 1 tbsp olive oil and salt to taste.

  • Arrange the tomato and paneer over the bread pieces, on the buttered side, in a decorative way.

  • Grill over high for 3-5 minutes, till edges are slightly brown.

  • Serve hot garnished with greens.

  • *in case you have a griller with elements only on one side, toast one side of the bread lightly, which will stay at the bottom.
