Makkai Vada (Corn fritters)

Deep fried spicy corn rounds

Type: Vegetarian Serving: 8-10 pieces

Ingredients

  • Corn, removed from the cob 3 cups
  • Coriander (Dhania)leaves, chopped 2 tbsp
  • Green chillies, chopped to taste
  • Coriander (dhania) powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin  seeds (Jeera) 2 tsp
  • Dried Mango powder (Amchoor) 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
 

Preparation

  • Puree the corn in a blender, without adding water.
  • Mix corn, coriander leaves, green chillies, cumin seeds, salt, coriander powder, and mango powder well together.

  • Make flat rounds, with a hole in the centre (like a ring).

  • Fry first in hot oil, and then turn over and cook over low heat, till golden.

  • You can half fry the vadas then fry again over high heat just before serving with chutney.
