Apple Crumble

Ingredients

  • Oven temp: 275 F/140 C
  • Apples, sour green ones, peeled and thinly sliced* 500 g (4 medium)
  • Lemon juice 1 tbsp. or to taste
  • Sugar cup (60 g)
  • Nutmeg, grated 1/8 tsp
  • Flour (Maida) cup (30 g)
  • Butter 2 tbsp (30 g)
  • Brown sugar, firmly packed 2 tbs. (30 g)
  • A 20 cm/8 round oven proof serving dish
  • *Preferable to use a slicer so you can get uniformly sliced apples.
 

Preparation

  • Sift the flour and mix in the nutmeg. Cut the butter into it, and work lightly with your finger tips to make it into a crumbly mixture (resembling powdered dry bread crumbs). Mix in the brown sugar.
  • Mix the lemon juice into the apples and arrange apples in a layer in the dish. Sprinkle the sugar on top.

  • Layer the flour mixture over the apples in a layer and bake in the pre-heated oven for 35-40 minutes or till brown on top.
