Grilled Mushroom and Cheese Sandwich

  • Bread 8 slices, buttered on one side
  • Mushrooms, sliced 200 g (1 ½ cups)
  • Butter 1 tbsp
  • Onion, finely chopped ½ cup
  • Dhania (Coriander) powder ½ tsp
  • Salt ¾ tsp or to taste
  • Kali mirch (Black pepper) powder 1/8 tsp
  • Cheese, grated ¼ cup
  • A sandwich griller


  • Melt the butter in a pan and add the onions. Sauté over high heat till a little soft.
  • Add the mushrooms, dhania, salt and kali mirch and stir over high heat till almost all the moisture has evaporated.

  • When cool, mix in the grated cheese. and use to fill the sandwiches.

  • To serve, switch on the griller.

  • Place a slice, buttered side down and heap some of the mushroom filling to cover.

  • Place the second slice over this, buttered side on top.

  • Place this sandwich on the griller, cover with the top plate of the griller and let the sandwich brown on both sides.

  • Serve hot, cut diagonally into two.
