Besan ka Laddoo

Type: Dal Serving: 10-12

Ingredients

  • Chick pea flour (Besan) 220 g (2 cups)
  • Clarified Butter (Ghee) 150 g (10 tbsp)
  • Cardamom (Elaichi) powder   tsp
  • Powdered sugar   180 g (3/4 cup)
  • Some roasted and chopped almonds to decorate, if you so desire
 

Preparation

  • Melt the clarified butter and add the flour.
  • Stir fry over low heat.

  • It is done when it gets a pasty look, and then the mixture tends to stick together in patches. Its finally done, when the colour is a light brown, and the base of the pan looks a little wet

  • Shut off the heat and leave the mixture to cool completely.

  • Add the sugar and the cardamom, and mix very well, pressing and scraping, and rubbing it between your fingers to make sure that it is blended thoroughly.

  • Proceed to shape the `laddoos' now.

  • Decorate the top of each with the almonds.

  • You can make these and store in air tight containers. They last a minimum of 4-6 weeks in the refrigerator.
