Aloo Rasedar (Vrat)

  • Potatoes, boiled and peeled 500 g
  • Ghee (Clarified butter) 2 tbsp (30 g)
  • Ajwain (thymol seeds)    1 tsp
  • Finely shredded ginger 1 tbsp
  • Dahi (yogurt) 1/2 cup (100 gms)
  • Senda namak (rock salt) 2 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies, chopped coarsely 3-4


  • Break potatoes, by holding in your hand and closing the fist, and keep aside till required.
  • Heat ghee, add ajwain then the ginger and saute till slightly fried.

  • Add dahi a little at a time and stir fry till the fat separates.

  • Add salt and chilli powder, mix well and add potatoes and green chillies and turn around over high heat, till they look slightly fried.

  • Add 2 cups water (or according to taste), and bring mixture to a boil, then simmer uncovered for about 15minutes. Serve hot with poories of kootoo ka atta.
