Afghani Chicken

  • Chicken-cut into pieces 1 (1 kg or so)
  • Magaz (melon seed) 1 tbsp ]
  • Kaju (Cashewnuts) 1 cup ] soaked together for hour or so
  • Khus khus (poppy seeds) 1 tbsp ]
  • Powdered black pepper 2 tsp
  • Chhoti Elaichi (green cardamoms) 6
  • Cream 1 cup
  • Butter 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste or 2 tsp


  • Grind together the magaz, kaju, khus khus, pepper and elaichi.
  • Prick the chicken pieces in 2-3 places.

  • Mix with the rest of the ingredients and marinate for 5-6 hours.

  • Grill in a tandoor or grill till golden and serve hot.
