Makes 2 cups
Tomatoes, chopped roughly 1 kg
Garlic, chopped 2 tsp (10 g)
Sugar 1 tbsp (15 g)
Salt 2 tsp (10 g)
Chilli powder 1 tsp
Method
1. Place tomatoes and garlic in a heavy pan over low heat till you can see the juices collecting at the bottom. Increase the heat and bring to a boil.
2. Continue cooking over high heat till tomatoes are ‘swimming’ in the liquid.
3. Remove from fire, and when cool enough to handle, strain through a soup strainer or blend in a food processor.
4. Add the rest of the ingredients, and cook over high heat, till mixture thickens and starts spurting in the centre.
Note: Tomato puree can be preserved, by storing in a sterilised airtight container in the freezer. Secondly, for every 4-5 kg of tomatoes that have been cooked, dissolve ˝ tsp of sodium benzoate in 2 tbsp. of boiled water, and add to the tomatoes. Now store in sterilised airtight jars, and seal with melted wax. This should keep for 3-4 months.
1 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled, minced
1 fresh chili pepper-stemmed, seeded, chopped
1-1/2 tsp salt
2 large tomatoes, peeled, cut up
2 tbsp chili powder
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1/3 cup olive oil
1/4 cup beer
Method: Heat oil in saucepan. Saute onion until lightly browned.
Add garlic, chilli, salt and tomatoes; simmer until mixture thickens.
Add remaining sauce ingredients; cook for eight minutes, stirring constantly.
You cannot cook whole tomatoes or anything in the microwave without cutting it, it will burst. You can only do it if you use a covection mode, which is like an oven.
Hemanshi, I am afraid a cake cannot be low in calories. It can only be lower in calories. The one lower in calories is the one without butter or oil, but I do not think it can be made in a cooker. the one with butter, which is heavier can be made. But even though it has no butter or oil it has all the high caloried ingredients, like eggs, flour and sugar.
