Cakes are very good in non-convection ovens too. OTGs are alright, but if you have a regular oven it is better. The elements in OTG sometimes make the cake bake too fast from the outside. But of course there are slightly bigger ones which work out better.
The thing about salads is that the dressing has to be mixed in at the last minute. Prepare both things and keep separate and mix before serving. If she can do that she will be fine with:
