FRIED ONION RINGS

Ingredients

All purpose flour (maida)sifted 1 cup (250 g)

Salt 1 ¾ tsp
-
Baking soda ( meetha soda) 1/1/2 tsp
-
Egg yolk 1
-
Egg white of 1 egg
-
Milk 2/3 cup (160 g)
-
Oil 1 tbsp (30 g)
-
Onions 2 large
-
Oil to deep fry

Preparation

Peel and slice the onions, ¼ inch thick.
Separate the rings thus formed and soak covered with cold water for 30 minute.
Drain the rings, pat dry and keep aside.
Beat egg yolk and oil well, and add the milk to it while beating so they blend well together
Add salt and the baking soda to the mixture.
When ready to serve, heat the oil to fry. While heating beat egg whites till stiff peaks form and fold into the milk mixtue.
Dip the rings into the batter one by one and fry till golden over medium heat.
