Ingredients

Oven temp: 275 F/140 C

Apples, sour green ones, peeled and thinly sliced* 500 g (4 medium)

Lemon juice 1 tbsp. or to taste

Sugar ¼ cup (60 g)
-
Nutmeg, grated 1/8 tsp
-
Flour (Maida) ¼ cup (30 g)
-
Butter 2 tbsp (30 g)
-
Brown sugar, firmly packed 2 tbs. (30 g)

An approximately 20 cm/8” round/square oven proof serving dish

*Preferable to use a slicer so you can get uniformly sliced apples.

Preparation

Sift the flour and mix in the nutmeg. Cut the butter into it, and work lightly with your finger tips to make it into a crumbly mixture (resembling powdered dry bread crumbs). Mix in the brown sugar.
Mix the lemon juice into the apples and arrange apples in a layer in the dish. Sprinkle the sugar on top.
Layer the flour mixture over the apples in a layer and bake in the pre-heated oven for 35-40 minutes or till brown on top.
