Ingredients

Oven temp: 325 F-160 C

Empty Pastry Shell 7 ½”-8” round

Brown sugar, firmly packed 1/3 cup /80 g
-
Butter 1/3 cup /80 g

Powdered sugar 1/3 cup /80 g
-
Eggs, lightly beaten 3
-
Maple syrup or honey 3 tbsp/ 45 g
-
Milk 1/3 cup/80 ml
-
Walnuts, chopped fine 100g

Vanilla essence 1 tsp

Salt ¼ tsp

Walnut halves to decorate

Preparation

Place the brown sugar, butter, sugar, syrup or honey and milk in a pan. Beat well to mix and place this pan over another pan of water, which is over low heat.
While stirring all the time, add the eggs and cook till slightly thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped walnuts, vanilla and salt.
Pour the mixture into the pastry shell, decorate with the walnut halves and bake in a pre-heated oven for about 30 minutes, or till the filling is set. Serve it warm or at room temperature, accompanied with ice cream or cream.
