Baked Custard (fat free)

Ingredients

  • oven temp: 300 F-150C
  • Skimmed Milk 2 ½ cups (500 ml)*
  • Sugar ½  cup (125 g)
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Eggs (whites only) 4
  • Bread slices, crusts removed 2  
  • Sugar free Jam 2 tbsp
  • A 7”-8” round oven proof serving dish
  • *If using skimmed milk powder, mix in ½ cup powder and 2 cups water
 

Preparation

  • Grate the bread slices or place in a food processor and blend.
  • Place sugar in a bowl, add the vanilla, egg whites and bread crumbs. Beat well till a little fluffy.

  • Continue to beat and add the milk in a stream while beating.

  • Transfer into baking dish and bake in a pre-heated oven for 30-40 minutes.

  • Remove from oven dot with the jam and serve hot or cool and chill.
