Chhunke hue Sabut Mattar ki Sabzi

A dish made from sabut mattar --green peas in their pods

Type: Vegetables Serving: 4 Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500 gms sabut mattar (fresh green peas, in their pods)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/8 tsp heeng (asafetida)
  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
  • 2-3  sabut lal mirch  ( whole dried red peppers)
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp  amchoor (dried mango powder)
  • 2 tbsp chopped hara dhania (coriander leaves)
 

Preparation

  • Wash the peas (in their pods) and leave to drain the excess water. Heat the oil in a kadahi or pan and add the heeng, jeera and the whole red pepper.
  • When the seeds begin to splutter, add the peas and salt. Mix well, cover and simmer till the peas are cooked through. Takes 10-20 minutes, depending on the freshness of the peas.

  • Add the chaat masala and amchoor, stir to mix and serve garnished with the hara dhania.
